STEPHANIE BISHOP

Stephanie Bishop is the best-selling and award-winning author of four novels. Her most recent novel, The Anniversary, was shortlisted for The Age Book of the Year and longlisted for both the Stella Prize and the Notabene Prize. Her previous novels include Man Out of Time, The Other Side of the World andThe Singing.

 

Her work has garnered widespread international acclaim, been translated into six languages and optioned for film. She is the recipient of multiple prizes, including The Readings Prize for New Australian Writing, the Literary Fiction Book of the Year Award, the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards (shortlisted), the Christina Stead Prize for fiction (shortlisted) and the Stella Prize (longlisted). In 2006 she was named one of the Sydney Morning Herald’s Best Young Novelists of the Year.

 

Bishop is also a widely published critic, and her writing has appeared in the London Review of Books, the Times Literary Supplement and The Guardian, amongst others. She has received fellowships to Yaddo, Tenjinyama Art Studio, Himachal Pradesh University, and Oxford University, where she was a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Life Writing. She holds a PhD from Cambridge University and is a Professor of Creative Writing at UEU where she teaches on the MA in Prose. Her fifth novel, The Host, is forthcoming.
